| Statistics There is very little sex trafficking occurring within the country of Nepal as these victims are usually lured across the border into to be exploited. The destination country is primarily India, with lesser numbers trafficked to Hong Kong, Malaysia, and the Middle East. Current government estimates indicate that there are approximately 12,000 young Nepali girls trafficked out of the country every year, with most of those girls under the age of 16. Additionally, it is estimated that there are 200,000 Nepali girls being held at this time as prisoners in the Brothels of India. Organizations in Nepal tell us that in some of the villages there is a startling absence of females between the age of 12-18. We are losing a generation of young women in this country and it has to be stopped. Click here to read more about border monitoring in Nepal |
| Peace Rehabilitation Center The P.R.C. is located in Kathmandu, Nepal. It was founded by Shanta Sapkota and is the first Christian organization in the country of Nepal. The Sapkota family has been working with and rescuing trafficked children since 1988. | One of the many prevention programs by the Peace Rehabilitation Center is the street "drama" program to educate others about the dangers of being lured into trafficking. This is a video of one of those street drama programs. |
