DIDI K.

Like many of these women, Didi came from a
small impoverished village. She married at a
young age and soon became pregnant. At the
time of the marriage, Didi did not know that her
husband was part of a broker gang that sold
women in the sex trade. When Didi was 4
months pregnant, she and her husband crossed
into India at Nepal’s Krishnanagar border. There
he sold her for 7,000 Rupees ($100) to a house
brothel. Didi was forced to prostitute herself for
three months while she was pregnant.
Meanwhile, her husband was jailed after P.R.C.’s
Krishnanagar border patrol caught him
attempting to traffic four more Nepali girls.
During the investigation, it was revealed that he
had sold Didi. P.R.C. was able to network with
Nepali and Indian police to stage a raid at the
brothel to rescue her. She was then brought to
the P.R.C. Kathmandu home where 2 months
later she gave birth to her beautiful daughter.
Unfortunately, Didi’s husband escaped the
authorities, but 2 other brokers from the gang
were imprisoned and are awaiting a trial. P.R.C.
along with their sister organization Serve-Nepal,
are funding the prosecution. Didi and her
daughter have made P.R.C. their home for 1 year
and are doing very well.
