| DIDI P. When she was younger, her mother died. Her father became an alcoholic and ran away from the village never to return, leaving Didi and her brother alone. Because the family had no money, her brother took her to a sewing factory. Here, she was beaten regularly and so she fled to Thamel, a tourist area in Kathmandu, living and selling goods on the street. Here, a P.R.C. staff member asked if she would like to live at P.R.C. and she accepted. She has been at P.R.C. for three years, learning and thriving in a stable and loving family. She excels at making bags and in order to give her more thorough training, she recently moved to Butwal to learn at the handicrafts training center. |
