| SANGITA Financially destitute, Sangita's family moved to New Delhi, India to try and find work. There, they continued to struggle and Sangita lost a brother to illness. Her father was coping so poorly with the financial problems and loss of his son that the mother left and headed back for Nepal by herself. Their father, now struggling with mental illness, tried to bring the girls back to Nepal but was beaten and thrown off the bus as he didn't have fare. The girls managed to get to the India-Nepal border at Krishnanagar where the police detained the distraught orphans and referred them to Serve - Nepal (a sister organization to P.R.C.). They were then brought to P.R.C. Kathmandu to live. |
